Marcus Williams has returned to Scunthorpe on loan for the remainder of the season to boost the Iron's fight against relegation.
Defender Williams left Glanford Park and joined Reading on a free transfer in the summer but has struggled to make an impact at the Madejski Stadium.
He has not played for the Royals since August having tallied five appearances for the club in the early weeks of the season.
Left-back Williams also spent a spell on loan at League One outfit Peterborough earlier in the season, making three appearances.
He returns to Glanford Park with Scunthorpe five points adrift of safety and with a significantly inferior goal difference to their rivals with eight games of the season remaining.
