Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell has confirmed his interest in bringing West Bromwich Albion striker Simon Cox to Portman Road.
Cox has struggled to establish himself in the West Brom team this season and has failed to score in 13 Premier League appearances, the majority of which have been as a substitute.
He has not featured for the Baggies since the start of February and Jewell has asked to be kept abreast of the 23-year-old's situation.
Jewell said: "We asked about Simon a while ago, about five or six weeks ago.
"But he said that he wanted to try to impress the manager, Roy Hodgson, which I fully understand. And we haven't heard anything to the contrary.
"We haven't been back in for him, but we have been in contact with West Brom to ask them to keep us informed if things had changed, and at the moment they haven't.
"There might be a few other clubs interested in him, who are in a better position than us at the moment, in which case we might be up against it."
