Everton manager David Moyes will not recall Yakubu from his loan at Leicester and has yet to make a decision on the striker's future beyond the end of the season.
There has been speculation that the Nigerian could be ordered back to Goodison Park for the remainder of the campaign in the wake of Louis Saha's latest injury.
But Moyes has no immediate plans to request the 28-year-old's return and will wait until the summer before making an overall decision on the forward.
Yakubu has expressed his desire to permanently stay at Leicester after scoring four goals in 12 appearances since joining the Championship play-off hopefuls in January.
And Moyes has no immediate plans to disappoint, as the Everton boss told Sky Sports News: "We have got a few players out on loan and I'm sure, come the end of the season, we'll assess it and see what the situation is.
"But, the one thing is, it's good that he is getting games. He needs the games. We couldn't quite get him in the team at the time.
"Louis was in good form and there were one or two others coming through. But it's good to see him playing.
"He is at a club who have got a really good chance of getting into the play-offs if they win a few games, so we will wait and see come the end of the season."
