Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu claims there is no rush regarding contract negotiations with Dani Alves.
The 27-year-old full-back's current deal is set to expire at the end of next season and he has been strongly linked with moves to Premier League big-hitters Chelsea and Manchester City.
Alves insists he is keen to remain at Camp Nou but has also expressed slight frustration at the lack of progress during negotiations.
Bartomeu says the club have made no deadline with the Brazil international but insists they want to keep him in Catalonia.
"There are no deadlines for the negotiations with Alves," he told radio station RAC 1.
"I am very optimistic about the extension and I think we will reach an agreement before the summer.
"In the press there have been many rumours about this subject but Barcelona have things very clear."
Alves made the switch to Barcelona in the summer of 2008 from fellow Spanish outfit Sevilla and has been an important part of their recent success.
