Midfielder training with League One club to prove fitness
Skysports.com understands Michael Stewart is training with Charlton Athletic with a view to joining until the end of the season.
Stewart is currently a free agent and is aiming to prove his fitness to Addicks boss Chris Powell ahead of agreeing a short-term contract.
The 29-year-old joined Turkish club Genclerbirligi last summer from Hearts but terminated his contract in January after a series of late and part payments of his salary.
He was linked with Premier League side Blackpool and also saw a move to Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United fall through.
The former Manchester United youngster could now finish the campaign at Charlton with a view to securing a long-term deal with the League One club.
