Aston Villa defenders James Collins and Richard Dunne have apologised following an incident during a team break.
The Villa squad had enjoyed a team-bonding day on Wednesday before having an overnight stay at a spa.
Reports allege that Dunne and Collins were involved in a row with members of the club's coaching staff regarding life under manager Gerard Houllier.
The centre-halves have offered an apology for what happened as Villa prepare to open an investigation into the incident.
"I apologise unreservedly for my behaviour on Wednesday night," Dunne told the News of the World.
"It was not acceptable and I am genuinely sorry."
Collins added: "We were wrong. This should not have happened and I apologise for the part I played."
A club spokesman added: "We have launched an investigation in line with our internal disciplinary procedures."
