Derby County manager Nigel Clough is planning a bid to sign on-loan goalkeeper Frank Fielding on a permanent basis in the summer.
Fielding is currently enjoying his second loan spell of the season at Derby, but must return to Blackburn Rovers after playing in the next three games.
Clough has Matt Duke at his disposal to cover Fielding's departure, but confirmed he will try to capture the 22-year-old at the end of the campaign.
"We knew at the time Frank could not complete the season, but it was important to get him in for these games obviously with a view to trying to secure a deal in the summer on a permanent basis," Clough told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"Frank is a good young goalkeeper, the England Under 21 keeper, and we think he fits into everything we are trying to do.
"The rules are a bit complicated.
"We can keep Frank in extenuating circumstances and extend his loan beyond the 93 days but we have a 24-hour recall on Stephen Bywater, as Hull have on Matt Duke.
"But, as it stands, Matt Duke will play the last eight games."
