Brazilian set for six weeks on sidelines

Sevilla have revealed that Luis Fabiano is set to be sidelined for around six weeks with a knee injury. The Brazil striker landed awkwardly on his right leg during Sevilla's 2-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday before being stretchered off in obvious agony. There were initial fears that Fabiano could be ruled out for a lengthy period of time and miss the rest of the season. Those worries have now been eased after Sevilla stated on their official website the problem was 'not as serious as expected'. However, it was also confirmed that Fabiano still faces a six-week lay-off, meaning he is unlikely to return to action until late April. Sevilla, who play Barcelona this weekend, are eighth in the Primera Liga standings following their loss to Bilbao, two points behind sixth-placed Espanyol and the European places.
