Bristol City boss Keith Millen insists the club want to keep star striker Nicky Maynard.
Skysports.com revealed that a host of clubs were again hot on the trail of the club's record signing after he returned form a knee injury which has kept him out for most of the season.
Millen acknowledges that Maynard is out of contract next year, but insists he wants him to stay.
"We want to keep all our best players," Millen told the club's official website.
"Nicky had a great season last year and we paid a big transfer fee to bring him here.
"I'm looking to build my own squad here and be judged on that in the summer. Nicky's a big part of that.
"I'm sure he's happy here. He's had a good time and hopefully he wants to improve the squad like I do.
"We're aware of [the contract situation] but Nicky is fully focused on his football.
"He's only just returned from injury. Scoring two goals in as many games has just reminded people what he can do, and I'm sure people will be watching - like they would with any goalscorer.
"Nicky is concentrating on playing football. He was tired and this week has given him a chance to recover. I'm delighted he's back to full fitness."
