The 31-year-old has been in good form for the Dons, making some excellent saves against St Johnstone in their goalless draw on Wednesday.

It was also Langfield's fourth clean sheet in a row as the club continue a decent spell of form that has seen them move away from the threat of relegation.

Langfield's contract expires at the end of the season, but the experienced shot-stopper was hopeful his performances could persuade the club to give him fresh terms.

"It can't do you any harm to hit a bit of form when your contract is up at the end of the season," he told the Daily Record.

All ears

"Nothing has happened yet so I'm just happily playing away as hard as I can and we'll wait and see what the future holds. Ideally, I'd love to stay. If the club want to speak to me, I'm all ears.

"I've been here six years and thoroughly enjoy it. I'm settled in the area, my wife's settled in her job and the kids are at school.

"It's out of my hands. It will be up to the gaffer and Jim Leighton, the goalkeeping coach, and the people above them.

"Everyone knows how highly I respect Jim. He has huge stature in the game and I listen to all he tells me."
