Watford midfielder Stephen McGinn has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to the knee injury suffered at Doncaster Rovers last weekend.
McGinn was replaced during the first half of the 1-1 draw at the Keepmoat Stadium and has already undergone surgery on the injury.
The 22-year-old had made 33 appearances for the Hornets this season and manager Malky Mackay is hoping McGinn will come back a stronger player.
"I'm desperately disappointed because it happened five yards in front of me and it was totally innocuous," said Mackay.
"Three players came together in a challenge and he is going to be out for a considerable period of time.
"The one crumb of comfort is he is in the best medical hands.
"It is important he remains mentally strong and comes back to kick-on in the future."
