Nigerian forward eyes silverware and an international recall

John Utaka claims to have returned to France in order to win trophies and earn an international recall. The Nigerian forward, who has previously turned out for Lens and Rennes, joined Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier from Portsmouth in January. He penned a contract until 2013 upon his arrival and has wasted no time in outlining his ambitions for the future. The 29-year-old sees no reason why he cannot return to the Nigeria fold once he rediscovers his form and is also keen to add to the FA Cup winners' medal he picked up with Pompey in 2008.

Adventure

"The coach has shown me how we are going to play and it looks like we did at Portsmouth," Utaka told L'Equipe. "I have played on the wing many times before so even though it is not my favoured position, it is not a problem for me. "The adventure at Portsmouth started well but things got gradually worse once the financial problems started. "I won't give up though. I came back to Montpellier in order to return to the national team and win some trophies."
