Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is hoping on-loan defender Nedum Onuoha's calf injury does not prove to be serious.
Onuoha was forced to sit out the Black Cats' 2-0 defeat at Everton on Saturday after picking up the calf problem in training.
Bruce is waiting for a firm assessment of the injury, but is confident that he will not be without the 24-year-old for too long.
"Nedum injured his calf in training but we don't think it's too serious," said Bruce after the Goodison Park defeat.
The full-back has impressed at the Stadium of Light during his loan spell from Manchester City and has made 25 appearances in all competitions.
He has only missed four league games this season and scored a stunning individual goal in Sunderland's memorable 3-0 win at Chelsea back in November.
