Wolves winger Michael Kightly is due to return to training next week and Michael Mancienne is also closing on his comeback.
Kightly has not made a first-team appearance for Wolves since November 2009 after being sidelined by ankle and knee injuries.
However, Kightly was included in the 25-man squad for the second half of the season and is ready to step up his bid for a playing return.
The 25-year-old may be allowed out on loan to build up his match fitness before being available for Mick McCarthy's side for the closing games of the season.
McCarthy said: "Kights will be back on Monday to train. It's been a long time and it will be a massive boost to him.
"If he can come back, it will be terrific. If he has to go out for a month then so be it, and then maybe come back for six or seven games for us. But we will see."
On-loan Chelsea utility player Mancienne is also close to returning to fitness after a lengthy lay-off with a knee problem.
"Michael has been out running," added McCarthy. "I've had a text from him and he is doing OK.
"We are hoping he is going to be up here in a couple of weeks' time."
