Derby boss Nigel Clough has revealed he his hopeful of bringing in Preston striker Paul Hayes on loan until the end of the season.
The Rams boss is looking to continue his rebuilding regime at Pride Park following his side's goalless draw at Scunthorpe on Saturday.
Clough handed full debuts to on-loan striker Jamie Ward from Sheffield United and centre-back Daniel Ayala from Liverpool in the goalless encounter at Glanford Park.
And now Clough is hopeful of adding at least one more new face ahead of his side's home game against Hull on Tuesday.
With Derby hovering just seven points above the relegation zone and the club without a win in eight games, Clough is hopeful of tying up the deal in the next 48 hours.
"We are engaged in talks with Preston to bring striker Paul Hayes in on loan," Clough confirmed.
"Hopefully those negotiations can be completed in time for Tuesday.
"And we are also talking to another striker so maybe we can push the boat out and bring in two."
