The Spaniard, who can operate at full-back or in central defence, suffered the the injury during Villa's 1-1 draw at Blackpool.

The blow has been cushioned by the fact that Gerard Houllier's side are currently on a two-week break, as they wait to discover their opponents in the FA Cup fifth round.

Villa are also hoping that Luke Young will be available again shortly after they resume Premier League duties against Blackburn on 26th February.

Practice

The former England international has been out of action since December with a knee problem, but is closing in on a return to full fitness.

Houllier admitted: "Cuellar is going to be out for four weeks. It is a hamstring tear.

"Luke Young has trained fully for the first time this week and we have a practice game lined up for him.

"The game with Blackburn could be too soon for him but it could be very soon after that."
