Swansea City have confirmed an approach from Derby County to sign Craig Beattie on loan last week was turned down.
Rams boss Nigel Clough is looking to improve his attacking options and made an offer to bring Beattie to Pride Park.
The striker has started only seven games in the Championship this season, but remains part of Brendan Rodgers' plans at the Liberty Stadium.
Beattie came off the bench to score the winner in the 4-3 victory at Middlesbrough last Saturday and Swans chairman Huw Jenkins acknowledged the goal justified Rodgers' decision to snub Derby's interest.
Jenkins said: "There was an approach from Derby last week about the possibility of a loan deal for Craig Beattie
"However, after discussions with the manager, he felt Craig was a vital and integral part of the squad, as proved at Middlesbrough on Saturday."
Reports suggest that Derby chief Clough has now turned his attention to agreeing a loan deal for Sheffield United front-man Jamie Ward.
