Lincoln boss expects competition for on-loan striker

Lincoln manager Steve Tilson has expressed his desire to keep loan star Ashley Grimes on a permanent basis, but admits he faces stiff competition for the striker. The 24-year-old has notched 11 goals in just 14 starts since joining from Millwall in October and has helped the League Two strugglers pull away from the foot of the table. However, with the former Manchester City trainee's stock continuing to grow with each stunning performance, Tilson expects clubs in higher divisions to be in the hunt for his signature this summer. Tilson told skysports.com: "Ashley has scored 11 goals in 14 starts, which is brilliant and he is a great lad that is very intelligent and knows how to finish. "He has got a good partnership going up front with Delroy Facey and they complement each other very well, as Grimes feeds off the target man in Facey. "I'd love to take Ashley on a permanent basis and the football club would like nothing better, but we will have to see what happens for the rest of this season first I think. "Grimesy has just got to keep doing what he has been doing recently, which is scoring goals, and if he keeps doing that then it would be difficult for a League Two team to keep him."
