Skysports.com understands Jeremie Aliadiere is in Dubai discussing a proposed move to Al Ain.
The former Arsenal striker is available as a free agent having been without a club following his release by Middlesbrough in the summer.
The French forward was linked with a move to Newcastle recently but no deal materialised and the Magpies eventually elected to sign Shefki Kuqi.
Aliadiere, 27, moved to the Riverside in June 2007 on a £2million deal but managed just 11 league goals for Boro from 78 appearances during his three-year stay.
He now appears set to leave Great Britain after a near 12-year stay with talks over a lucrative switch to the Arabian Peninsula on the cards.
