Scotland have been hit with the withdrawal of midfield trio Lee McCulloch, Darren Fletcher and Graham Dorrans for the clash with Northern Ireland.
Rangers' McCulloch misses the Carling Nations Cup game against Northern Ireland in Dublin on Wednesday because of a knee injury.
The injury caused McCulloch to miss Sunday's Old Firm Scottish Cup fifth-round clash at Ibrox which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Joining him on the absent list are Manchester United's Darren Fletcher (ankle and eye socket) and West Brom's Graham Dorrans (ankle).
There are also doubts over Wigan defender Gary Caldwell, who has a cheekbone injury but will join up with the squad to be assessed.
Boss Craig Levein has called up Caldwell's brother and club team-mate, Steven Caldwell, and James McArthur, also from Wigan, as replacements.
