Daniel Sturridge insists that his debut goal for Bolton Wanderers is a mere sign of things to come at The Reebok Stadium.
Sturridge joined The Trotters from Chelsea on transfer deadline day and he wasted little time in becoming a fans' favourite.
He came on as a second-half substitute as he bagged the winner against Wolves on Wednesday as he intercepted Roland Zubar's back-pass.
"I was surprised that the defender passed the ball back but as a striker you've got to be ready for those kind of things," he said.
"I'm here to score goals because that's my job at the end of the day.
"It was great to score on my debut but the most important thing was that the team won.
"The manager had said to me before the game 'be ready to come on and light the place up' so it feels great to say that I did it."
