Billy Reid hopes to bring loanee Jon Routledge back to Hamilton before the transfer window closes.

Accies boss hoping to re-sign Latics midfielder

Hamilton manager Billy Reid hopes to bring loanee Jon Routledge back to New Douglas Park before the transfer window closes. The Wigan midfielder spent the first half of the SPL campaign with the club and Reid was pleased with his attitude and ability. Reid has snapped up midfield pair Aaron Wildig and James Chambers, but still hopes a deal can be reached for Routledge to return.

Hopeful

"We have one or two things we are looking at and hopefully by the end of the window we can maybe add a bit more," confirmed Reid. "Jon is one we have targeted to come back to Scotland. "He played about 14 games on the bounce for me - great attitude and great football player, exactly what we need at the club."

Wildig, 18, has joined on loan for the remainder of the season and comes highly recommended from Cardiff, where he has made 21 first-team appearances. "He made his debut at 17 years old so I think that tells you the quality of the player," he continued. "We have already seen him on the park in a bounce game at Kilmarnock and he has fantastic quality on the ball. "You've got to give him time to adjust to the hurly-burly of Scottish football. "But he has commented on how we play, we get the ball down and pass it. We will continue to do that and hopefully pick up points."
