Portsmouth defender Joel Ward is poised to sign a new deal at the club, skysports.com understands.
Versatile defender Ward has established himself as a key member of Steve Cotterill's side this term, making 26 appearances in the first team.
The 21-year-old is a big fans' favourite at Fratton Park and he has chipped in with two goals this season, including one in the 2-2 draw with Leeds on Saturday.
Ward's current contract has 18 months to run on it, but the club have moved to offer him a new two-and-a-half-year deal.
The news will come as a boost to Pompey boss Steve Cotterill as he looks to secure his best young players on long-term deals.
