Skysports.com understands Middlesbrough are set to extend Seb Hines' contract this week.
It would be a huge showing of faith in the Boro youngster who has been plagued by injuries throughout his career.
The 22-year-old's injuries have included a broken ankle and a snapped anterior cruciate ligament.
Hines, however, has returned back to full fitness and has impressed Boro chief Tony Mowbray with his attitude and dedication.
Mowbray believes the Academy graduate can fill the breach created by David Wheater's defection to Bolton last week and is ready to give Hines the chance to fulfil his undoubted potential.
Who will be most affected by recent injuries?
