Cristiano Ronaldo is glad Real Madrid are being linked to Ruud van Nistelrooy as they seek to bring in a striker during the transfer window.
Boss Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to sign another striker as Gonzalo Higuain is unlikely to feature for at least four months after undergoing a hernia operation in the United States on Saturday.
The Spanish giants have been linked with a move for former player Van Nistelrooy and Ronaldo is pleased by such speculation as the club seek to wrestle the Spanish league title from bitter rivals Barcelona.
The Portuguese star, who has scored 22 goals at the halfway stage of the season, said: "We need someone for six months.
"There has been talk of some great players such as Ruud and I'm glad. The more players there are here who want to help this team win the better."
Mourinho's side are now four points behind Barca in the Primera Liga, while they face Lyon in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
"I want to win lots of Champions Leagues and league titles here," said Ronaldo, adding that the side could not afford to "go another year without winning something."
Dutch striker Van Nistelrooy scored 46 goals in 68 league games over a three-and-a-half-year period with the Spanish giants before departing for Hamburg last January.
