Mick McCarthy has revealed Michael Mancienne will remain on loan at Wolves for the rest of the season.

Blues fail to recall loan star

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has revealed Michael Mancienne will remain on loan at the club for the rest of the season. Chelsea had the option of recalling Mancienne during January after he spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Molineux. However, that deadline has now passed and the England Under 21 player will stay at Molineux. Mancienne is currently recovering from a knee injury and McCarthy is happy to keep the player for the rest of the campaign. "There was a deadline for Chelsea to recall Michael and that's passed," said McCarthy. "He hasn't been recalled and he's our player to the end of the season. "That's good news - but it will be even better when he's fit and at the moment he's still undergoing his rehab. "He's having that back at Chelsea and our physio is in contact with their physio. "He'll be out for a total of six weeks. That's where we're at with him."

No sale

Meanwhile, McCarthy will resist the temptation to sell midfielder Dave Jones, who is out of contract in the summer, during the current transfer window. Jones has yet to agree a new deal at Molineux and can leave on a free transfer in May, but McCarthy will not try and cash in on him this month. "Dave is a good player. He is still around," added McCarthy. "If I sell Dave, I'll probably have to get someone else in which is counter-productive, to lose a good player and be looking for another one. "I've no desire to cash in on him whatsoever and maybe it is in Dave's interest to let his contract run out. "He is in a stronger position then."
