Sought-after striker concentrating on Cardiff

Jay Bothroyd insists he is happy at Cardiff and fully focused on their promotion push amid speculation linking him with Newcastle. The striker has been tipped for a move to the Premier League with the Toon in this month's transfer window having impressed for the Bluebirds in the Championship. Reports on Friday indicated Magpies officials had already held preliminary talks with their counterparts at Cardiff over bringing Bothroyd, who is out of contract in the summer, to St James' Park. But 28-year-old Bothroyd has stressed via his Twitter feed that he is enjoying life at the Cardiff City stadium and says his top priority is helping the Bluebirds, currently second in the league, to promotion. "Newcastle is a great club but I'm really happy at Cardiff," said Bothroyd. "I'm a Cardiff player I'm focused on getting promotion with the Cardiff faithful...That's all I no (sic)." Bothroyd, who arrived at the Welsh club in 2008, has scored 13 goals in 17 Championship appearances so far this season. The striker, who made his full England debut in November, is yet to pen a new deal with the Bluebirds and is also understood to have attracted interest from Fulham, Everton and West Ham.
