The Villans have already seen two bids for the Scot knocked back, but are considering a third approach.
Their initial offer of £2.5million was laughed off by Seasiders boss Ian Holloway, while an improved £3.5m bid also received short shrift.
Villa are nothing but persistent, though, and are refusing to be put off by their failings so far.
Still eager to bring added creativity into his ranks before the January transfer window slams shut, Houllier admits he is still keen on Adam and could be tempted to test Blackpool's resolve once more.

On the saga so far, he said: "We did things the right way. We went to the club and said we were interested in the player.
"But there has not been any official reply except what I read from Ian. Everyone is entitled to say what they want.
"Will we be back in for him? It is difficult to say at the moment. He knows we want him, probably.
"But he has got a contract with his club so I can't say more about that."
