Reading have extended the loan deal of Queens Park Rangers midfielder Mikele Leigertwood until the end of the season.
Leigertwood had struggled for first-team opportunities at QPR this season and has impressed since joining Reading in November.
He has made seven appearances for the Royals and the 28-year-old's form also attracted interest from Championship rivals Ipswich Town.
However, Leigertwood has agreed to stay at the Madejski Stadium and he is happy to have secured an extension.
"I've really enjoyed my time here and it only felt right to stay for longer," Leigertwood told the club's official website.
"It felt good for both parties, it was an easy choice for me. I'm playing, I think I'm doing okay, the management are happy with me and there was no decision to make really!
"I'm pleased to be working with the manager, we've got a good mix of youth and experience in the squad.
"He has always said we want to get into the top six, we're only six points off second and it's there for us."
Reading boss Brian McDermott added: "I'm delighted, Mikele has been a really good addition to our squad.
"He is a top guy, a top person and represents everything that is good about our football club."
