The Cameroon international is a January target for Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier, who has already admitted to making a formal approach.

Makoun was expected to be on his way out of Stade Gerland during the winter window, having struggled for consistency this season.

He is, however, back in the side at the moment and insists he is happy to be playing again.

The 27-year-old claims there is nothing he can do to stop speculation regarding his future from gathering pace, but insists he will continue to give his all for the Lyon cause until he is told otherwise.

Offers

"I am just trying to concentrate on my game and not let myself be distracted," said Makoun.

"It is true that there are offers for me, and concrete ones at that, but I still have a contract here and I must respect that.

"There is a lot of talk about me in this transfer window, but it is the same for many players and I need to remain focused on Lyon.

"All I want to do is play, that's what matters. I am happy now because I am enjoying my football again."
