Ireneusz Jelen has handed Auxerre a timely boost by returning to training on Monday.
The Poland international has missed much of the season after undergoing two operations on his knee.
In total he has played less than two full games, with time on the treatment table having sidelined him for long periods.
His second operation was carried out in November and he has played no part in the first-team fold since then.
Jelen is, however, closing on a return to action and Auxerre boss Jean Fernandez is delighted to have the 29-year-old back in contention.
"He has taken some tests and we have concluded that he no longer has a problem with his knee," he said.
"He can return to group training with us.
"He will be with us on Monday, which is a rest day for the team but a day of fitness training for him with our conditioning coach."
While delighted to have Jelen back in his thoughts, Fernandez is set to lose the Pole in the summer.
His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season and it is unlikely that fresh terms will be thrashed out.
