Leeds midfielder Neil Kilkenny has reiterated his desire to stay with the club beyond the end of the current campaign.
The 25-year-old midfielder's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and it is not known whether he will be a Whites player next term.
Leeds are performing well in the Championship and recently handed a new deal to striker Luciano Becchio.
However, Bradley Johnson's situation remains uncertain and fellow midfielder Kilkenny also faces a wait to see if he will be offered new terms.
"Obviously I really want to stay, I've said in the past that I'd love to stay," he told
skysports.com. "Whether myself and the club can come to an agreement is another matter.
"I just want to stay at Leeds and I would hope that we can come to an agreement."
Kilkenny missed the impressive 1-1 FA Cup draw with Arsenal on Saturday as he is currently away with the Australia squad for the Asian Cup.
Fight
The Socceroos ace has made 22 league appearances for Leeds this season but admits he has will have to fight to win back his place when he returns to Elland Road after the international tournament.
"If you go away or you're injured or you miss a game there is another player that steps in and obviously if they do well they keep their place. That's football," he remarked.
"My contract is up at the end of the season and what can you do?
"You just have to keep your head down, keep training hard and that's what I'll do when I get back.
"The competition is tough. Everyone's fighting for places, we've got a massive squad.
"People have been saying the manager's looking to bring in some players as well so everyone's pushing for places.
"Maybe we've got a few too many but you can never have too many players at the end of the day to push for places."
On Simon Grayson's side's chances of promotion, he added: "We're taking it game by game. We're just looking forward to every game that we're playing in the Championship.
"I think we've got some good enough players to be in and around it. I'm not saying we're definitely going to be but I think we could be there to push for promotion."
