Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has not given up on signing Kenny Miller despite competition from Fiorentina.
It appeared the Rangers forward had rejected the chance to move back to the Premier League with Birmingham, but Blues boss McLeish is ready for one last throw of the dice.
The in-demand player had looked set to move to St Andrews after the club had a bid accepted by Rangers on Friday.
However it was revealed that the Scot preferred a move to Florence and had in fact snubbed the advances of the Blues, yet despite this McLeish remains optimistic.
"We've spoken to Kenny Miller's people and they haven't said yes or no. We'll see where it goes from here," said McLeish.
McLeish is also refusing to rule out further additions during the window.
"You never know," said the Scot.
"If there is an opportunity for us to go forward with someone and it is good for the future of the club, then [Blues owner] Carson Yeung likes that kind of strategy."
