Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback has been recalled from his loan at Ipswich Town to ease the club's injury troubles.
Colback was due to spend a further fortnight at Portman Road after impressing during the first half of the season with Ipswich.
The 21-year-old is also looking for a permanent move away from Sunderland, however, he has been summoned back to the Stadium of Light.
Black Cats boss Steve Bruce's midfield options are currently depleted, with captain Lee Cattermole resting a back problem.
David Meyler suffered suspected cruciate ligament damage against Aston Villa on Wednesday, while Bolo Zenden was sent off in the 1-0 win.
It means Colback is likely to be involved in Sunderland's FA Cup third-round tie against Notts County on Saturday before a decision is made on his long-term future.
