Manchester City have appealed against Pablo Zabaleta's red card in the 0-0 draw with Arsenal.
The Football Association have confirmed that the Blues have submitted a claim for wrongful dismissal following Wednesday night's stalemate at the Emirates.
Zabaleta and Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna were both shown a straight red card after clashing late on during the Premier League match, and City feel Sagna was the aggressor.
"We are a little bit disappointed with that decision," said City's assistant manager Brian Kidd. "It was very harsh."
Sagna reacted to a challenge from the Argentina international and pressed his forehead against his opponent. Arsenal have confirmed they will not be appealing against the Frenchman's dismissal.
The FA confirmed on their official website that a regulatory commission will hear the claim this Friday, January 7.
Zabaleta is facing a a three-match ban which would rule him out of Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie at Leicester, along with league games against Wolves and Aston Villa.
