Watford are ready to offload striker Nathan Ellington in the January transfer window due to financial reasons.
Malky Mackay has confirmed the record signing could be heading for a speedy exit out of Vicarage Road after recently returning to England from his loan spell at Greek side Skoda Xanthi.
Ellington, who has six months remaining on his contract, is believed to be Watford's highest earner and it is also understood further appearances for the Championship outfit will trigger an extra payment to West Bromwich Albion.
And Mackay expects the former Wigan marksman to head elsewhere in the transfer window.
"Nathan has got the flu this week, he has given us a call to say he is back in the country but is unwell and that the doctors have been out to have a look at him," the Hornets boss told the Watford Observer.
"Financially we are not able to include him in the squads. No-one has made an offer for him yet.
"There have been a couple of teams looking to talk to him but nothing at the moment in terms of that. But there is a month ahead of us and there will be plenty of people looking to make changes to their squads so I would imagine somebody will come in."
