Sol Bamba is holding talks with Leicester City after Hibernian accepted a bid for the Ivory Coast defender.
Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson is keen to improve his squad during the January transfer window and has already signed Ben Mee on loan from Manchester City.
Eriksson has now lined up a move for Bamba, who was left out of the Hibs team which lost 1-0 to Edinburgh rivals Hearts on New Year's Day.
Hibs manager Colin Calderwood confirmed the offer from Leicester and he believes the bid represents a good deal for the SPL side.
"We had a bid from Leicester and, subject to him agreeing terms, we've given him permission to go down there," said Calderwood.
"It's a good deal for the club."
Bamba has made 80 appearances during his time at Easter Road after joining Hibs from Dunfermline Athletic in 2008.
