Wigan Athletic have Chris Kirkland back amongst their ranks after the goalkeeper was forced to return from his loan spell at Leicester City for treatment on a back problem.
The 29-year-old has endured an injury-ridden career and the former Coventry and Liverpool shot-stopper is laid low once again with his long-standing back injury causing the issue.
Kirkland, who aggravated the ailment during Leicester's defeat to Millwall on Tuesday, was due to complete his loan spell when the Foxes travel to Hull City on New Year's Day.
Kirkland joined Sven Goran Eriksson's side at the end of November in search of first-team football after finding his opportunities limited at Wigan.
However, he suffered a back spasm before the Nottingham Forest game and had to wait until the trip to Ipswich on 18th December before finally making his debut.
