Nilmar: Knee problem
Villarreal have suffered a fresh injury blow with the news that Nilmar requires a knee operation.
The Brazilian striker picked up an injury to his right knee earlier this month and has now been booked in for arthroscopic surgery in the coming days.
He will then begin his recovery in Villarreal on 6th January and is expected to be sidelined for at least a month.
Villarreal were rocked by a thigh injury to Marcos Senna on Tuesday, with the veteran midfielder out for up to ten weeks.
Nilmar is another key player, having scored 10 goals for the Yellow Submarine in the Primera Liga this season.
Villarreal are currently third in the standings, eight points adrift of second-placed Real Madrid.
