The Toffees have not been able to achieve the results they would have liked this season despite performances that have generally been reasonable.

One source of frustration for manager David Moyes has been a lack of goals from his strikers, with Yakubu, Louis Saha and Jermaine Beckford yet to show their best form.

Everton have scored just 21 goals in 19 Premier League games this season and midfielder Tim Cahill has been the most prolific player by some considerable distance with a tally of nine.

Responsibility

Yakubu, who came on for the final half hour of Tuesday's 1-1 draw against West Ham, admits that he has a responsibility to deliver the goods.

He has been frustrated by a lack of playing time in recent weeks but has vowed to do his utmost to improve.

"We are the strikers and we are really, really struggling to score goals at the moment," said Yakubu.

"It's really frustrating sitting on the bench.

"But what can I do? Just keep working hard in training and hopefully I'll get my chance."
