Alan Pardew is to warn his Newcastle players about their conduct on Twitter after Jose Enrique let slip that he would not be fit for Tuesday's defeat at Tottenham.
Three hours before kick-off, the full-back Tweeted the news that a hamstring injury meant he was unavailable for the match at White Hart Lane.
Pardew was not impressed as he wanted Spurs to be surprised by Enrique's absence, which would have only become common knowledge when the team-sheets were submitted.
The Newcastle boss therefore plans to tell his squad to keep their mouths shut in the future as he attempts to address a run of two defeats in three games since taking charge.
"I got a text message that people knew Jose wouldn't be playing because he tweeted it," Pardew said in the Daily Express.
"Players can't be giving that sort of information out. We'll warn them what they can and can't say in the future."
