Espanyol sporting director Ramon Planes has quashed rumours of a January move for Arsenal forward Carlos Vela.
The 21-year-old Mexico international has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at the Emirates and Spanish outfit Espanyol are thought to be tracking his situation.
The Catalan side are currently fifth in La Liga and they could see a number of comings and goings this January.
However, Planes denies that the club have made Vela a target. He said: "At this moment we do not want this footballer.
"I think the talk in the papers are just rumours."
Meanwhile, speculation continues to rage on in regards to Espanyol's Spanish Under-21 defender Victor Ruiz.
Planes added: "We have not received formal offers from England for Victor Ruiz.
"If any proposals arrive they will be in the first week of January."
