Everton manager David Moyes is hopeful star defender Phil Jagielka will not be out of action for long after being injured against Man City.
The England international has made a successful return to form and fitness after missing much of last term through injury, but failed to finish the 2-1 success at Eastlands.
Jagielka departed the match with a thigh strain and it had been feared the 28-year-old could face a stint on the sidelines.
However, while Moyes is not sure how long the ex-Sheffield United man will be out, he is hopeful it will not be a prolonged amount of time.
Jagielka could even feature in their Boxing Day clash with Birmingham, although John Heitinga is also touch-and-go to play and Moyes hopes that at least one of the pair will be fit and available.
"I'm not sure," stated Moyes on Jagielka's possible return. "We're hoping that he might not be too long.
"He is certainly a doubt for the game against Birmingham, as is Johnny Heitinga, so we could have a problem at centre-half if we don't get one of them fit."
