Sheffield United are hopeful goalkeeper Richard Wright will extend his stay until the end of the season.
Wright joined the Blades on a four-month short-term deal in September following a brief trial spell.
And despite injuring his thigh on his debut at Barnsley earlier this month, Wright is understood to be discussing an extension with Bramall Lane's board of directors.
United have recently been given permission to talk to Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll about the vacant managerial role at the Championship side after Gary Speed left the post last week to become Wales coach.
However, the board are reluctant to wait for a new manager to entice the former England international to remain with the South Yorkshire club and have approached the player about prolonging his stay themselves, according to The Star.
