Billy Davies has called on the Nottingham Forest board to thrash out a new contract for Robert Earnshaw.
The prolific striker will see his current deal expire at the end of the season, meaning Forest are running the risk of seeing him walk away as a free agent.
Davies is determined to ensure that outcome does not come about, with the Wales international an integral part of his plans.
He has already requested that talks regarding an extension are opened and hopes he will be given good news on that front in the coming weeks.
"We have seven players out of contract at the end of the season and Robert is one of them," said Davies.
"I have recommended to the board that we keep Robert and offer him an extension to his current deal."
Earnshaw has been at the City Ground since 2008, notching 17 goals in consecutive seasons for the Reds.
