The right-back was forced to miss last weekend's 2-1 home victory over West Brom with a groin injury, and is now being monitored ahead of the DW Stadium clash.

Assistant manager Gary McAllister says he is hoping to see Young, Villa's best-performing defender this season, back in training by the end of the week.

"Luke has still got a problem so we're just monitoring him," McAllister told the Birmingham Mail.

"He's getting closer now. On Thursday or Friday he's looking to be taking part so we're just waiting on the green light from the physios for him to come back into training."

Injury-plagued Villa have received a boost, however, with the news Gabriel Agbonlahor has been declared fit after missing the win against the Baggies with a chest infection.

"Gabby's back and we're delighted to see him back," added McAllister.

"It's another one back which is good news for us."
