Spanish international Joan Capdevila has agreed a new deal with Villarreal.
The 32-year-old left-back was due to be out of contract at the end of the season and a number of clubs from across Europe, including Liverpool, were strongly linked with a Bosman swoop.
However, Capdevila now looks set to stay at El Madrigal, where he has been playing since 2007.
"It is almost done," he told Radio Marca.
"The club has kept its word, and I have kept mine, and all that is missing is my signature."
