Skysports.com can confirm that Motherwell's Steve Jennings was sent off against Hearts for using 'insulting, offensive and aggressive language'.
The 26-year-old was incensed that Well were not awarded a late penalty in their 2-1 defeat at Fir Park for Marius Zaliukas' challenge on Alan Gow.
He remonstrated with match official Stevie O'Reilly and it was believed that his grab of the referee's arm might have seen him issued a straight red.
However, it has been confirmed that Jennings was not dismissed for the contact and that he was indeed sent for an early bath for something he said to O'Reilly.
It was Motherwell's first game since Scotland's infamous referees' strike and Jennings' inability to bite his tongue in the heat of the moment is unlikely to help the cause.
Jennings' red card means he is given an automatic one-match ban which rules him out of the team's weekend SPL clash at Aberdeen.
