Barnsley striker Iain Hume is hoping to finalise a permanent move to Preston North End following the end of his loan spell at Deepdale.
Hume marked the final game of a three-month stint at Preston by scoring the only goal in Saturday's victory over fellow Championship strugglers Ipswich Town.
The Canada international admits he has rediscovered his confidence during his time with the Lilywhites after scoring four goals in 14 appearances.
Darren Ferguson is trying to secure a permanent deal for Hume and the 27-year-old is aiming to return to Preston when the transfer window reopens.
"Last season I wasn't 100 per cent fit and I wasn't playing to the best of my ability," said Hume.
"I have come to Preston, played every week and got my energy and confidence back.
"The clubs are close to an agreement and I am just waiting for January 1 to come along and everything can be sorted."
