Morrison lauds midfield quality

James Morrison feels West Brom's midfield performers have given Roberto Di Matteo a selection problem.

Contest for places ahead of derby clash with Aston Villa

James Morrison feels West Brom's strong midfield performance in the win over Newcastle has given Roberto Di Matteo a selection problem. Morrison featured in a 3-1 win on Sunday and believes this performance has left his manager with a headache over who to play in the centre of the park with a derby clash against Aston Villa looming. A strong partnership at the weekend between Morrison, Graham Dorrans and Chris Brunt made up for the fact that key man Youssouf Mulumbu was missing through suspension. With the former PSG player's two-game ban now complete, Baggies boss Di Matteo must decide whether to recall the Congo midfielder, or stick with the players that won at The Hawthorns. "Sunday was probably our best performance of the season over 90 minutes," Morrison told the club's official website. "The strength in depth of the squad showed as we coped well without Youssouf, who has been a key player for us this season. "I thought me, Brunty and Dozza did well in the middle and the gaffer's got a real headache over who to play on Saturday now. "I feel I'm in my best form since I came back from the problems I had with my heel. My back injury isn't a major problem and is being managed."
